Theater aan het SpuiBafana Republic: Extra Time (Engelstalig)
Mike van Graan liet zich voor deze satire op het hedendaagse Zuid-Afrika inspireren door de FIFA World Cup 2010 nominatie. Voetbal als startpunt voor maatschappelijke commentaren. De titel is een woordspeling op 'bananenrepubliek' en 'bafana bafana', de naam die het Zuid-Afrikaanse voetbalteam kreeg.
Bafana Republic: Extra Time (English)
Mike van Graan draws inspiration for Bafana Republic: Extra Time - a satire on contemporary South Africa - from the 2010 FIFA World Cup nominations. The title is a play on words crossing ‘banana republic’ with ‘bafana bafana’, a nickname for the South African soccer team. All the characters in all nine sketches are played by the same actor.

Een explosieve Amerikaanse tekst over racisme binnen de zwarte gemeenschap. Eugene en Alma zijn hartsvrienden sinds hun kindertijd. Ze werden opgevoed met weinig liefde en veel drank. Ze hunkeren naar het grote avontuur en dromen ervan om te ontsnappen. Op zoek naar een nieuw leven ondernemen ze een tocht die hen van in gin en blues gedrenkte katoenvelden in Zuid Carolina tot in de wereld van funk en soul van New York brengt.
Eind april 2008 is Yellowman gekozen als beste voorstelling tijdens de Kanna Awards uitreiking in het wine estate Spear.
Aus Greidanus (artistiek leider Toneelgroep De Appel) en Gerrit Dijkstra (zakelijk leider Toneelgroep De Appel) zaten eind maart 2008 op uitnodiging van het Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees (Zuid-Afrika) in de jury van dit theaterfestival. Yellowman is de voorstelling die door hen is gekozen voor het 08 Festival.

An explosive American drama that explores racism with the black community. The story of childhood sweethearts, Eugene and Alma, who were raised on much liquor and little love. They dream of escape and yearn for the adventure of new lives, traveling from the gin soaked blues of South Carolina cotton fields to the funk and soul of New York City.
